Frequently Asked Questions
Are collagen jelly sticks safe?
They're a food supplement, not a medicine, so they aren't evaluated by the MHRA the way a drug would be. As with any supplement, check the ingredient list for allergens (fish/marine collagen and fruit concentrates are common), and if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or on medication, check with a pharmacist or GP before starting any new supplement.
Will I have to pay customs or VAT ordering from Korea or the EU?
Possibly. Orders from outside the UK can attract import VAT, and above certain value thresholds, customs duty as well. EU-based retailers generally have simpler, more predictable customs handling than orders shipped directly from Korea. Check the retailer's own shipping and customs page before ordering โ policies change.
How do you actually eat one?
Tear off the top of the pouch at the marked notch and either squeeze the jelly directly into your mouth or eat it with a spoon. No water or mixing required. Most are designed to be taken once daily.
What's the difference between a jelly stick and a collagen shot?
A collagen shot is a small liquid drink, usually sold in a glass or plastic bottle. A jelly stick is a soft-set gel in a flat foil pouch โ thicker in texture, no bottle to dispose of, and generally more portable.
Is any UK retailer stocking jelly sticks yet?
Not on the high street as of publishing. A small number of UK-based online supplement brands have launched early jelly-format products, but the wide range of Korean brands seen in Olive Young and similar retailers is still import-only. See our where-to-buy guide for current options.
Do jelly sticks actually work?
The only authorised health claim connecting a nutrient to collagen in the UK is that vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin. Beyond that, evidence for ingested collagen's effect on skin appearance is mixed and still being researched โ treat marketing claims (in any format) with appropriate scepticism, and don't expect a supplement to replace a skincare routine, diet, or sun protection.
